I Finally Have the Guts to Join the 60 Day Challenge - kaltopsyd's Hublog
70
I Had My Doubts
Okay... so I'm new to this and a little intimidated too. First of all, I joined late and I'm more nervous than I should be. I don't know why. I don't know if I'll get support - since I joined too late - or even if I'm allowed to join after days since the initiation. Is the Hub Challenge even open?
When the 60 day challenge was originally supposed to begin on the 1st of August (2010) I was all for it, since I knew my classes resumed on the 31st. That means I would have definitely finished the 30 Hubs and all I'll have left to do is promote my fellow Hub challenge team.
I'm under junior status this year in college (although this is my second year) so I don't know what to expect.
Seeking Guidance
Before I decided to start this challenge I looked to a few experiences Hubbers. First of all, I looked at many tutorials by sunforged - the creator of this wonderful 'event' - and I contacted Boomer60 for aid. Then I looked at other Hublogs by Hubbers such as englightenedsoul. That way I got a slight idea of how to go about this challenge. Although I'm still lacking confidence.
Earlier today I was really, really regretting not joining the challenge. I was telling myself, "Kimberly, you're passing up a good opportunity. Tsk, tsk." So, I sought some direction and got some encouragement. Thanks guys!
Goals
My main goal is to build a stronger support team here on HubPages, 'meet' new people and have fun in the process. I would be lovely to earn some more money (Lord knows I need it)!
Right now I would like to see an increase in my Google Adsense earnings and my Amazon Affiliates earnings. I want to see at least a 50% increase in my daily Adsense earnings.
Motivations
A fellow Hubber and online friend of mine recommended the challenge to me in July. Also, it will be nice to possibly make some more money and build my HubPage network - gain some new supporters and become a supportee to others.
In October, I'm going to have a new baby godbrother and I want to be able to buy him stuff and still afford my school fees.
My Greatest Fear
Surprisingly, my greatest fear in doing this challenge is NOT that I won't make it. It's that I won't gain the support I know I need. I feel like I'll be left all to my lonesome seeing as I've joined so late and that I wasn't in the initial selections.
As I write now, I'm still wondering whether or now I'm too late. But hey, I'm going for it guys! Good luck to the rest of you!
A "Diary Entry"
Today I felt guilty about jumping into the 60dc-2 after everyone was already prepared and had been doing so - probably - for a while. I took time to visit the other challengers' Hub logs and commented, introduced myself. After a while, my guilt and shame (I'm a little dramatic, I know) was replaced by feelings of excitement. Then I received some encouragement and I was sold! Oh and I published one Hub: the 35th chapter to my Thespian Lane serial. I'm looking forward to the rest of this journey.
August 17, 2010 (I started on day 2)

My Stats - Aug. 17 (first day)
A "Diary Entry"
It's 2:36 AM and why am I awake? Because I'm thinking of ideas for this 60dc-2. I have to come up with all 30 Hubs sometime between now and the 30th of this month. Once the 31st hits... my primary attention would be on my school work. Oh joy! :-( I definitely feel better about this challenge though. I've just published one Hub in the entertainment category and I'll be posting another (of unknown category currently) later today.
~*~
Okay, so it's now 2:48 and I decided to publish my 3rd Hub just because it was ready and I'm still awake. I thought, hey, why not? It's the 7th part of my Fantasy Fiction serial that I'm working on simultaneously with my realistic fiction serial. So... that's it for tonight. I'm retiring to finish reading a novel I've been working on. Good night... or good morning, rather...

It's 2:52 AM and of course I'm still awake. I have a problem guys. Anyway, yesterday I wrote A Day in the Life of an Imaginative Insomniac and then I read it and laughed at myself. I thought: wow, I really AM crazy. So, I'm interested in seeing some reader feedback on that one.
As I contemplated going back to college I wrote the 5th Hub. So, I think I'm doing pretty well. My Hubber score is 97 today, that's 1 point up from yesterday. That cheers me up a bit. Oh and the support and encouragement from my fellow hub challenge team... priceless. Thanks!
It's 3:36 PM and I just posted the 36th chapter to Thespian Lane. I'm wondering if it's possible to post all 48 chapters before I go back to school. Hmm...

August 20, 2010 (Day 5)
A 'Diary Entry'
I think I'm going to take a 'Hub break' today. I have an intense multiple-babysitting job tomorrow from 9 AM to 5 PM followed by a conference in my church from 7 until WHENEVER... I wonder if this weekend I'll have time to do any Hubs. My family is visiting... We'll see.
This will give my new Hubs some time to 'mature'. Any maybe my Hubber score will go up! It's been stuck at 96 lately.
A 'Diary Entry'
I'm so tired... I planned to stay up really late/early today (it's 2:49 AM) and post some Hubs but I just can't. I posted a chapter of The Oracle, continuing my fantasy serial. However, that's all that I can do at the moment. So... good night, HubPages.

A 'Diary Entry'
It's 1:02 AM and all day I've been trying my best to catch up on the challenge. Suddenly, I'm running short on ideas. What's up with that? Either that or I'm working slower than usual. I guess it's because I'm not feeling 100% right now but I'll be alright. I'm getting nervous because school starts on the 31st and I'll probably not have time to write more Hubs so I have to do all I can now.
1:40 AM, I just published Thespian Lane part 38 and I can't believe I only have 10 chapters left to post! Yay! I'm going to eat something and come back to work on more Hubs.
3:12 AM, I published a Hub on Halloween... so I have published 3 Hubs today. I think I'll publish more. We'll see.
11:29 AM. I think I'll just publish one Hub tomorrow - to give my other Hubs some time to 'mature.' My Hubber score has been stuck between 95 and 96 lately and I want it to go back to 98 as it used to be. I want to take some time to read other Hubbers' work as well so, that's my plan for tomorrow.

1:03 AM. Well, it's day 11 and I'm halfway through the challenge. I feel pretty good about that. I don't know whether I should slow down and give my Hubs some time to 'mature' or continue so that I won't still be working on Hubs once school starts. Hmm... This will be a hard decision.

A 'Diary Entry'
12:58 AM. My Hubber score went up by one. I'm at 96 now and though it's only one, that makes me feel a little happier. I'm due to publish another 'The Oracle' installment so I think I will in a few minutes.
Hey! It's 3:52 AM and I decided just to hop onto HP... just because. I have to mention that my Hubber score is 98 (yay) and the current Hubscore for this Hub is 92. I don't believe any of my Hubs have ever had such a high score. Yesterday I made no money with Google Adsense (not a big surprise) but this week I've made the most I've ever made in just one week. I mean, it's not a huge amount but it's still larger than I'm used to. If my Hubber score stays up, I may just publish another Hub late today. Fingers crossed.
Okay, so it's only 4 AM and I'm back. Why? Because I crossed my fingers and my Hubber score dropped by one. I'm at 97 now. I just home when I wake up later on, my score will still be 97 or better. :-)
I'm at 99. Whoo! Oh and it's 1:06 PM by the way. Since my score is up, I feel compelled to post another Hub. It's going to be a 'Holiday' Hub. As a matter of fact, it'll be TWO holiday Hubs.

Welcome and don't be worried about being left alone there are many people who will help - don't be afraid to ask.
It will be great working with you over the next two months!
Have no fear kaltopsyd! Everyone here has been really great and supportive. i can't wait to start reading your hubs!
Hey K.Alto, it seems like you have things working in the right direction as I write this comment. I wouldn't worry about the supportive aspect, because every one of the veteran hubbers are there to help out. I know I was a little nervous and it wasn't from the matter of writing 30 Hubs in 30 Days. I find that part to be the easiest part of it. It's the technical aspect and promotion that I'll need the support for, as I am sure that is what you will too, from what I read of your hub log. We'll all work together to achieve the success we want, but remember to keep your mind opened and focused on the task at hand. Again, it's a pleasure to meet you. :)
Do not be worried,if you stick to your plan and keep up your goals you will be right there at the end of the finish line with all of us.
WE have a few mottos on this team and the best one is from Shaz. . United we Stand Divided we Fall. Stick with getting your 30 Hubs done and then we promote , it is easy as pie. One thing I would take the google adsense accounting of, you do not want to show that column.I will try to get you uo and on the team page tomorrow but wanted to come and say welcome!
It's a great challenge, if it challenges you, then you have the guts ;) I know you can do it Kalto :) I'll be reading you to learn tips too
Hey there and welcome to the crew. From the looks of it, we have a heck of a team and you need not fear. You're going to have people rally behind you every step of the way! Good luck and happy hubbing!
Welcome aboard. It is so glad to have you on the team. I am really looking forward to working with you. I do have a few suggestions for you. First of all, you should add "online writing goals" tag in your hublog(without quote mark), so that SF can keep a track otherwise the hub won't appear in the tag feed. And also, you should consider writing your hub summaries categorywise, it will really help in promotion.
You already are doing a great job and I know you are a talented writer and the team will learn a lot from you. If you need any assistance, feel free to email me. Glad to have you on board!!!
Great that you have joined the challenge and welcome on board. It is my first challenge as well but already I have had lots of encouragement from everyone. Good luck
Hi Kimberley :0) Thanks for the welcome back it was cheering :0) I've been keeping an eye on your progress and it's amazing!! You go girl. I've been having an eventful life offline (happy stuff) so have not been as focussed on getting the hubs I'd like to uploaded. But your output is hugely impressive. Even moreso as it's not dross (high praise from a curmudgeon!!). I'm looking forward to catching up with the story on Thespian Lane, browsing through the oracle and will be ra! ra! ing from the sidelines on your 60 day challenge.
Hi there, welcome and you are off to a great start, just follow enlightenedsoul's suggestions and read latest sunforged hubs, See you around regarding the challenge, you can check this -- http://60daychallengeathp.ourtoolbar.com/ -- then after downloading that, there is a pull down menu of 60dc, go to forum so that you can register and email sunforged if you have any problem, or you can ask us anytime. Good luck and Take care, Maita
kaltopsyd, Welcome aboard! It is great that you have decided to take the plunge into this challenge. I assure you, you won't be sorry you made the decision to join the team. I have added you to my hub-log as well. If you need any help just ask. We work as a team and the strength of the team is where the power rests.
Kimberly - You will do fine, actually i know you wilkl do awesome because you always do. Think of it this way you will open Thespian lane to a whole new audience. I will help you all i can as I always have. Give yourself some credit, you are an aswesome writer!
Hub Log looks great! Off to a roaring start! Welcome aboard!
I'd love to see you explore some short 3 or 4 stanza poems, be it about love or confusion or nature...good luck Kaltopsyd;);)
Good luck Kaltopsyd, not that you need it - you are off to a flying start!
I just wanted to say welcome to the team! Looks like you will have no problem writing 30 in 30. Your hublog looks awesome!
Well, Kim, you have my support!! However, I am afraid I can't offer you any tips - as I myself have never taken part in any of these challenges.
I write in stops and starts and when a particular topic or subject catches my fancy, so all I can do is to try to support you as much as I can. Best of luck :)
Go for it. Good luck and best wishes. You can do it!
Good luck with the 60 day challenge and ask if you need help as I'm always on hubpages at some point of everyday!!
To your success!
I'm glad to see you made the decision and you have certainly made impressive progress for the first day. Best of luck.
Hi Kaltopsyd! Welcome to the challenge! Gosh where were you when I had my anxiety attack! It's all good, you are most welcome in the challenge and don't worry. I panicked myself into hiding and they still welcomed me back with open arms. You will never find a better group of writers in that respect. I am not brilliant with SEO and keywords and all the other stuff, but I can tell you this much:
Don't be nervous. Do not worry! Do not panic! The fight or flight reflex that causes those emotions is not necessary here as there are no predators ready to devour you. I had to learn not to be afraid here, but I'm normally afraid everywhere!
I am an expert on useless panic, it's supposed to move you to action, but I tend to let it paralyze me. When it's 2: am and you can't sleep and you can't write, just send me an e-mail, I'm probably up and can't write either. LOL, we'll get through it.
You are made of stern stuff! I was too chicken to try it for fear of falling into a puddle of tears. I can't wait to see how you do! Go girl!
Awesome hublog, I like the way you have it organized! Wow 80 hubs in 3 months; you will breeze right through this challenge. Best wishes. :)
Hey Kim! I promise I will try to read your stuff tomorrow! I am so glad I got Jenny 31 done so I can publish as I promised tomorrow. Looks like you are coming along really well.
K alto, glad you decided to join the challenge. 80+ hubs in 3 months, you have been a busy girl! With your addiction you should be able to sail through this challenge. Good luck.
Very best of luck, looking at your current output level you will have no problem with producing the 30 hubs.
Lovely to have you aboard - it is going to be great fun :)
Hey! Welcome and glad to have you on the team. I am still figuring out the basics myself.
Wow - what a beautiful hublog, so well organized, and fun to follow. It was a very clever idea to put your diary entries in a separate color and column.
Congratulations on completing your 30!
Congrats (30 hubs done) and good job, Maita
Wow, good job, I aspire to your level of success with my urban fantasy serials :)
